This is the story of two passionate winemakers who have never been daunted by inclement weather. Since 2011, Felícisimo Pereira and Marcial Pita have been crafting white wines of crystalline precision, marked by the oceanic influence unique to Galicia.

Felícisimo, a renowned oenologist and heir to a four-generation family winemaking tradition, knows every nook and cranny of the Ribeiro region. Marcial, a wine journalist and hands-on winemaker, brings an almost literary sensibility to each vintage. Together, they tend the vines as a living entity—without machines or herbicides—with rare dedication and genuine humility in the face of their region’s capricious nature.

Located in the Avia Valley, in the heart of the Ribeiro Blanco appellation, Bodegas El Paraguas brilliantly showcases the uniqueness of this Galician region, which remains all too little known. Here, the vines cling to steep slopes at an altitude of over 700 meters, on poor granitic soils that lend the wines structure, freshness, and minerality. Ribeiro, long renowned for its age-worthy whites and monastic heritage, finds new life here in a modern and luminous interpretation of the terroir.

Their approach is as demanding as it is elegant: plot-by-plot winemaking, strictly controlled yields, and absolute respect for indigenous grape varieties—all without any artifice.
