During his studies in oenology at the Changins School of Engineering, Jérôme Rebetez concocted his first beers in his parents' kitchen. Enthused by his own creations, he decided to present them at the Swiss homebrewing Trophy competition. At the age of 23, with a diploma in oenology in his pocket, he aspired to create a brewery in the very heart of his childhood region: the Franches-Montagnes, in the Jura. Penniless but brimming with passion, he set about creating atypical beers and won the prize in a television competition called "Le rêve de vos 20 ans". The sum awarded to the winner enabled him to found the Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes in June 1997. Jérôme Rebetez is committed to producing the best: the raw materials are carefully chosen and he favours the quality of the ingredients, always original and difficult to integrate, such as Sarawak pepper, sage and many other spices. The young brewer's know-how quickly positioned him as the craftsman of rich beers, with complex bouquets, "vinous" and remarkable persistence. He is known for his limited production of beers such as Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien, which is aged for 12 months in oak barrels and has been recognised by the prestigious New York Times as one of the best beers in the world.
