Verduno Pelaverga, Comm. G.B. Burlotto - 2022

An autochthonous variety grown only in the village of Verduno, on the edge of the Barolo region, Pelaverga is brightly coloured. Nose of cherry, red fruits, with a discreet touch of pepper. The palate is dashing, articulated around a slender structure. It is a sapid wine, with a marvellous natural expression and a remarkable originality of taste.

Viticulture

A young DOC (1995), the estate has been producing Pelavarga since the late 19th century. It was developed by Francesco Burlotto, the son of the Commendatore, who was convinced that Verduno would provide a terroir worthy of the grape variety. It is planted here in three distinct locations: Sut Jort and Lasagne facing west, and Rocche Dell'Olmo facing east.

Oenology

Maceration for seven days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for three months in tuns, then two months in stainless steel tanks, and a further two months in bottle before being sold.

Suggestions for accompaniment
