VdF Chenin liquoreux, Les Erables, Ménard (50 cl) - 2018

An enchantment of sweet Chenin, a delicacy like one dreams of! Very bright orange colour. The nose is deliciously candied, with apricot jelly and orange marmalade, very greedy. The palate is superbly harmonious, flowing, intense in flavour and above all infinite. A little jewel and above all a real bargain at this price, for such a quality of botrytis. The great Sauternes have only to behave themselves!

Viticulture

The Layon is a small tributary of the Loire, bordered by a number of privileged communes, including Rablay (although the positions of the latter's vines, situated on both sides of the river, are heterogeneous). The terroir of Les Erables was downgraded to 80% Ajou in 1998 because for the AOC the schist must be 30 cm above the ground, whereas in Rablay the schist is 80 cm above the ground. Oenology

The Rablay of J. Ménard comes from a part of deep schist and a sandy-gravelly soil.
