Viticulture

The origins of Lafon-Rochet date back to the 16th century, when it was part of a vast estate belonging to the wealthy merchant Janot Bernard de Leyssac. Remarkably situated close to Lafite, Cos Labory and Cos d'Estournel, Lafon-Rochet is surrounded by 40 hectares of vines in a single block, planted in Günzian gravel on a sandy-clay subsoil. The average age of the vines is 30 years. Density of 9,200 vines/ha.

Oenology

Alcoholic fermentation lasts two weeks in stainless steel vats, regulated at a temperature of 30°C. Extraction is by pumping over. The malolactic fermentation takes place in vats and barrels. The wine is aged for a further 20 months, 50% in new barrels.
