Particularly elegant and expressive, the nose evokes plum, spices, blackcurrant, strawberry, with a touch of very noble cedar. The body is of great nobility of expression, fine, smooth, with an incomparable straightness and a unique depth of flavour. The elegance and purity of a great Margaux at its most perfect. It can already be savoured happily but - and this is one of the virtues of the estate's wines - this 2000 is capable of ageing harmoniously for at least two decades.

Viticulture

Average age of the vines 35 years. Planting density 10'000 vines/ha. Yield per hectare 20-25 hl/ha. High quality soil with deep gravel that drains naturally (a few ditches evacuate run-off water). The grape varieties include a very high percentage of Petit Verdot.

Oenology

No yeasting. Cement vats. 4 weeks of vatting. 12 to 18 months in vats. Fining with fresh egg white. No filtration. A particularity of this wine is that it is not sold by subscription.
