Vinho Verde, Loureiro Private, Anselmo Mendes - 2021

Viticulture

This wine is the first fruit of our research into the Loureiro grape variety, grown on our various plots in the Lima Valley, on both sides of the Lima River. This vineyard, located at an altitude of 35 metres, is planted on granite soil interspersed with schist. During the 2017 harvest, a particularly hot and dry year, we exploited this vineyard to obtain exceptional concentration and expression, while preserving the freshness and aromatic purity of the grape variety.

Oenology

The grapes were harvested by hand and rigorously selected in the vineyard, placed in small crates and transported quickly to the winery. The whole, destemmed grapes were gently pressed. Long cold clarification followed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats. The wine was aged for 9 months in vats with regular stirring. It was then aged for one year in the bottle.
