Sancerre rouge, La Réserve de Marcigoué, François Crochet - 2019

The first thing to admire is the absence of woody character on the nose as well as on the palate, even though the wine is vinified and aged in the Burgundian style. This vintage is fleshy, vinous, full and dense, with explosive fruit (Morello cherry) free of any vegetal character or hardness. It enters the closed circle of the - rare - great red Sancerre! A wine for the demanding wine lover.

Viticulture

It comes from an east-facing limestone terroir. The 35 year old vines are in organic conversion.

Oenology

The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity and the harvest is sorted and destemmed before a 20-30 day vatting period. The wine is aged in barrels for 12 months, half of which are new or one wine.
