Fronholz is a very original terroir with a strong personality! Original because of its location on a hill away from the Vosges mountains, on the summit and south-western flank of the Epfig hill. But it is also original because of its south-western exposure, which is extremely rare in Alsace. The consequence is an intense sun at sunset, and more light intensity. The soil is composed of quartz and white siliceous sand on the surface, and clay at depth. The vines are cultivated using Biodynamic methods, as is the entire estate.
After a long and gentle pressing of whole bunches, the wine is vinified in stainless steel vats and fermented with indigenous yeasts. After a year's ageing in vats on the fine lees.
