Pommard Les Bertins 1er Cru, Chantal Lescure - 2022

The terroir of Les Bertins is little known in Pommard, and this is a form of injustice because it is ideally placed on the hillside of the Premier Crus, in the continuation of Volnay and Fremiets. Here, therefore, there is no rusticity or exaggerated tannicity, but rather a superb pinot with aromas of ripe red fruits and incense, dense but smooth, full of energy, and built for a very good ageing.

Viticulture

Approximately 2 hectares, facing east, on the Volnay side. Vines 30 and 60 years old. Massal selection and quality clone. Brown limestone soil on scree. The young vines of this terroir are vinified separately and constitute another "Pommard 1er Cru" cuvée. Certified organic farming.

Oenology

Manual harvesting. Grapes sorted, destemmed, not crushed. Pre-fermentation maceration, indigenous yeasts. Gentle and long fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Moderate punching of the cap, vatting time 18 to 25 days. Aged in cold cellars on the lees, in barrels, 30% to 50% new barrels (origin of the wood: Centre France and Vosges). Racking after 18 months. Bottled without filtration.

Suggestions for accompaniment
