Nuits St-Georges Les Damodes, Chantal Lescure - 2020

A rare case for Burgundy, this high altitude cru is cut in two, half Premier Cru, half Village. But it is not this division that explains its quality and personality, but rather the fact that it is late in the season and located on a very chalky terroir for pinot. The resulting wine is marvellous in its perfume (violets, blackcurrants), finesse and freshness; and only gets fuller and fuller on the palate with age. We love it.

Technique

Viticulture

Approximately 1 hectare, located on the hillside on the Vosne-Romanée side. Facing east at 300 m altitude. Vines 40 years old. Terroir essentially composed of hard limestone. Certified organic farming.

Oenology

Manual harvest, always late, 25kg crates, grapes destemmed, not crushed, vatting by gravity. Pre-fermentation maceration for 3 to 4 days. Gentle and long fermentation, indigenous yeasts, moderate punching down, vatting for 20 to 25 days. Aged in cold cellars (30 to 50% new barrels). Racking, blending of the batch in mass. Bottled after 16 to 18 months without filtration.
