IGP St-Guilhem-le-D., Mas de Daumas Gassac rouge - 2020

On the nose, red fruits and Cabernet Sauvignon are the first perceptible aromas, followed by very fine notes of cocoa and roasting, mainly from the ageing process. On the palate, the 2020 charms by the subtlety of its flavours: blackcurrant, black cherry, mocha and a slight hint of vanilla. The structure is both structured and delicate. The finish is long, almost a minute from the moment the wine passes under the tongue to the moment it disappears. The tannins are silky, with a lot of power and so much finesse. Viticulture

The Mas de Daumas Gassac is located in the middle of the Arboussas massif, on a deep, perfectly drained soil, poor in humus and plant matter, rich in mineral oxides. This terroir was formed by the accumulation of glacial sandstone by the wind during the Riss, Mindel and Guntz glaciations.

Oenology

Classic Médoc vinification - long maceration - no filtration. Aged between 12 and 15 months in oak barrels (1 to 7 years old).

Suggestions for accompaniment

Rack of lamb, cream of split peas with cumin • Duck breast with honey and sherry vinegar • Venison nuts.
