Graubünden, Completer Malanserrebe, Donatsch - 2022

Viticulture

The Donatsch family, based in Malans, has been associated with the greatness of Graubünden wines for several generations. Today, Thomas's son Martin is in charge of the estate and continues the tradition with his own touch, especially with the "Unique" series. Father and son are absolute fans of Completer, an old indigenous grape variety, also known as Malanser Rebe, whose presence is attested as early as the 14th century.

Oenology

DNA analyses carried out by José Vouillamoz have shown that Completer grison is related to another original grape variety, this time from the Valais, Lafnetscha, of which Completer would be one of the progenitors, associated with Humagne blanche. Thus, the presence of Completer in the Valais is probable from the end of the Middle Ages.
