Dark colour. Fresh, elegant nose of red berries. Balsamic notes. Smooth entry on the palate. Supple, round, very caressing, suave in its development. Very soft flesh conceals a precise structure with finely liquorice tannins. A wine of great elegance. Bettane & Desseauve: 17.5/20; Wine Advocate: 92/100; Decanter: 92/100; J. Viticulture

This is a surprising terroir, seemingly unsuited to producing great wines (too gentle a slope, thin layer of Pyrenean gravel, marl outcrops preventing deep rooting!) And yet the results are there! It undoubtedly took a great deal of drainage work to optimise the soil and subsoil. Time will tell whether the planned extensions to the vineyard (on gravel that's much deeper, by the way!) will preserve the exceptional character of this cru.

Oenology

The reds are matured for 21 months, with 50% new barrels.
