Definition: Pisco

Back
In Chile, Peru, Argentina and Bolivia, Muscat of Alexandria grapes are distilled to produce a brandy with an alcohol content of 50%. After distillation, the brandy is placed in earthenware containers. It is generally consumed young, served with a slice of lemon. Pisco originated in Peru and came from the Ica Valley, the country's best wine-growing region, near the port of Pisco.
