A highly aromatic fruit of the juniper tree, popular in Nordic cuisine. It is also used to make a juniper brandy known as péquet in Belgium and genever or schiedam in the Netherlands. Juniper has inspired milder imitations such as Belgian jenever, German Wacholder and English gin.
