Definition: brunch

Back

Exported by our Anglo-Saxon friends, the phenomenon appeared in France a few years ago and has gradually become "the Sunday outing".

Originally, brunch, a hybrid meal, was eaten between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. In France, it is especially popular on weekends, but its hours tend to extend into the late afternoon, especially in the capital.

A gourmet and convivial occasion:

Brunch has become a convivial occasion, ideal for eating a balanced but varied meal with friends or family, in a restaurant or at home, mainly in the form of a buffet, preferably a generous one...

Restaurants have caught on to this trend and many of them, like cafés, are riding the wave of this new culinary habit and offering tempting brunch menus.
