Viticulture
Suduiraut has been owned by AXA-Millésimes since 1992. The 92-hectare vineyard is a synthesis of the clay terroirs typical of Sauternes, known for their opulence, and gravelly plots that are more closely associated with the subsoils of Barsac. At the Suduiraut vineyard, we use sustainable viticulture methods, with no use of chemicals or pesticides. Planting density is 7,000 vines/ha. The average age of the vineyard is 25 years.
Oenology
The grapes are picked in successive selections over several weeks. After slow pneumatic pressing and cold settling, the musts are harvested and fermented in batches in oak barrels. Suduiraut is bottled after 18 to 24 months' ageing in 50% new oak barrels. The average yield on the estate is around 10 to 14 hl/ha.
