This cuvée is a nod to George Thienpont who had a particular affection for Malbec - also called Pressac in Bordeaux - and Cabernet Franc. It is made when the quality of these grapes is remarkable, from Puygueraud's vats, but reversing the usual blending of the latter. James Suckling: 94/100

Viticulture

Clay-limestone on subsoils of asteriated limestone, clay and marl. Controlled grassing and working of the soil. Integrated pest management in the vineyard. Numerous manual interventions: disbudding, leaf removal, thinning. Manual and mechanical sorting at harvest time. Surface area: 1.4 ha.

Oenology

Vatting in whole berries in concrete vats, punching down and pumping over. Aged for 12-16 months in 225 litre barrels, one-third of which are renewed.

Suggestions for accompaniment

Rack of veal with morels - Braised chuck of beef - Roast duck with citrus fruits.
