Deep colour. The nose is classic, intense, sparkling, with graphite, fruit and cedar. Sumptuous body, ample, with a consistent texture that is supported by a magnificent foundation, almost imperceptible in its strength. And yet it is there! It is the velvet glove that hides the firm hand. The finish is radiant. Nothing austere or authoritarian, but a magnificent grace and a looseness that can only be found in the very best. The heart of the property comes from a large 53 hectare parcel overlooking the Gironde and adjoining the best terroirs of Château Latour (l'Enclos). Another parcel of about thirty hectares, located a little further west, produces the Clos du Marquis, which is not the 2nd wine of Léoville Las Cases but another wine. The soil is deep Garonne gravel on alios. The planting density is 8,797 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines is 30 years.
