The heart of the property comes from a large 53 hectare parcel overlooking the Gironde and adjoining the best terroirs of Château Latour (l'Enclos). Another parcel of about thirty hectares, located a little further west, produces the Clos du Marquis, which is not the 2nd wine of Léoville Las Cases but another wine. The soil is deep Garonne gravel on alios. The planting density is 8,797 vines per hectare. The average age of the vines is 30 years.
The grapes are harvested manually. After a vatting period of 15 to 20 days, the wine is vinified in 50 to 100% new oak barrels for 18 to 20 months.
