Viticulture
The origins of the Château date back to the 14th century, but the first recognition of the vineyard by a deed of sale dates from 1552. The 83-hectare vineyard is planted on gravelly hilltops of Garonne origin and sands of glacial origin. The average age of the vines is 25 years. Planting density is 10,000 and 8,330 vines/ha, with an average yield of 45 hl/ha.
Oenology
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected by table sorting. After sorting, de-stemming and light crushing, the grapes are placed in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. Vatting lasts 18 to 24 days. The wine is placed in barrels after pressing and malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured in medium toast, fine-grained French oak barrels, with 50% new wood, for 15 to 18 months. The wine is fined with egg whites before bottling at the château.
