Viticulture
The origins of the Château date back to the 14th century, but the first recognition of the vineyard by deed of sale dates from 1552. The vineyard covers 83 hectares and is planted on gravelly hilltops of Garonne origin and sands of glacial origin. The average age of the vines is 25 years. The density of plantation is 10,000 and 8,330 vines/ha, for an average yield of 45hl/ha.
Oenology
The grapes are harvested by hand with a selection of berries by table sorting. After sorting, de-stemming and a light crushing, the grapes are put into thermo-regulated concrete and stainless steel vats. The vatting time is 18 to 24 days. The wine is placed in barrels after pressing and malolactic fermentation. The wine is matured in fine-grained French oak barrels of medium toast, with 50% new wood, for 15 to 18 months. Fining with egg white before bottling at the château.
