Technique
Viticulture
Originally, in the early 18th century, the Milon vines were used to make Lafite's 2nd wine. Several successions brought the vineyard to almost 50 hectares by 1855. In 1962, the Rothschilds bought the estate and embarked on major renovations, which resulted in a 72-hectare vineyard in 2001. The vines are planted on gravelly soil mixed with Aeolian sand on a limestone substratum. They adjoin Lafite and are tended by the same teams.
Oenology
Vinified by plot and matured for 14 months in half new oak barrels.
