Viticulture

Created in the 18th century, this château owes its reputation to Baron Hector de Brane, nicknamed the Napoleon of the Vineyards, who completely restructured the property after purchasing it in 1833 and enabled it to be classified in 1855. The Lurton family acquired it in 1925 and Lucien Lurton managed it from 1956 to 1992. This vast 75-hectare estate is located west of Cantenac on the Brane plateau, the highest point of the appellation.

Oenology

The layer of gravel from the Quaternary period, which can reach depths of up to 10 metres, explains its classification. Planting density is 6,500 to 8,000 vines per hectare, with an average yield of 45 hectolitres per hectare. A period of ageing on lees lasting around two months follows malolactic fermentation. After eighteen months of ageing in barrels, the wine is fined with fresh egg whites in wooden vats and then prepared for bottling.
