Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, Le Potazzine (magnum) - 2015

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva captivates as it slowly blossoms in the glass, but this is a wine that is truly worth waiting for. "With each swirl, a bouquet of mentholated cherry, autumnal spice, shaved cedar and Tuscan dust gains amplitude and richness. The textures are undeniably elegant, communicating opulence while also stimulating the senses with salty minerals and an inner smokiness that I find wildly compelling. An intense array of red currants, licorice and savory spice fills the senses and translates directly to the finale, where regal tannins saturate, promising a remarkably long life. Only 3,000 bottles of this beauty were produced." - Vinous ?: 99/100 ; Bibenda : 5 Grappoli ; Doctor Wine : 96/100 ; Robert Parker ?: 97/100 ; James Suckling ?: 96/100

Viticulture

Potazzine is a very traditional family estate that works with respect for its grape variety and terroir and strives to respect the nature and soul of the wines that have made the reputation of this region. Two distinct plots are at the origin of this wine: Le Prata, facing south-east at an altitude of 500 m.; Le Torre, facing south-west at 320 m. Cordon de royat cultivation, 5952 vines/ha.

Oenology

Riserva is only produced in the best vintages. Fermentation takes place spontaneously, through the work of indigenous yeasts, maceration lasts about 30-35 days, then the wine is aged in 30 hl tuns for 52-54 months. It is then kept in the cellar for 10 to 12 months before being released for sale. This cuvée is regularly one of the best rated and most beautiful of the region in its classic style, a wine for long ageing.

Suggestions for accompaniment
